Words are very powerful. Words where used by God himself to create everything that exists. Words can be used by evil to break up marriages, and cause problems in churches.
Matthew 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man
Matthew 12:36,37 But I say unto you, that every Idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement
For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shall be condemned
Matthew 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh.
These are just a few. Bottom line: Gossip is sin. Nobody can justify it simply because they don't drink, smoke, do drugs, cus ect. Sin is sin. Gossip is sin. Thats in the Bible. Anyone who teaches otherwise is not teaching according to the word.
IIt is words that are used to give God praise.
It is words that are used in the sin of Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Which is the ultimate sin. But also a very rare one.
You can learn alot about people by simply listening to the words they speak. A heart full of hate, will speak hate.
A heart full of love, will speak love.

Gossip is idle personal talk; groundless rumor. Slander is defamation, generally malicious, whether oral or written.

Not all gossip is bad or damaging, though it can be. At times it may be commendatory about a person or persons; or it may be the mere relating of something trifling or unobjectionable about others, out of human interest. But it is easy to slip into hurtful or troublemaking talk, for gossip is idle talk.ossip and slander. Gossip can lead to slander, becoming disastrous to the slanderer. The wisdom of the words at Ecclesiastes 10:12-14 is very evident: “The lips of the stupid one swallow him up. The start of the words of his mouth is foolishness, and the end afterward of his mouth is calamitous madness. And the foolish one speaks many words.”

Gossip is talk that reveals something about the doings and the affairs of other persons. It may be unfounded rumor, even a lie, and although the gossiper may not know the untruthfulness of the rumor, he spreads it nevertheless, thereby making himself responsible for propagating a lie. It may be someone’s faults and mistakes that the gossiper is talking about. But even if the things said are true, the gossiper is in the wrong and reveals lack of love. The proverb says: “The one covering over transgression is seeking love, and he that keeps talking about a matter is separating those familiar with one another.”—Pr 17:9.

While gossip can in some cases be more or less harmless (though it can become slander or lead into it), slander is always damaging and always causes hurt and contention. It may be with or without malicious motive. In either case, the slanderer is putting himself in a bad position before God, for “sending forth contentions among brothers” is among the things that God hates. ----

"There are six things that Jehovah does hate; yes, seven are things detestable to his soul: lofty eyes, a false tongue, and hands that are shedding innocent blood, a heart fabricating hurtful schemes, feet that are in a hurry to run to badness, *a false witness that launches forth lies, and anyone sending forth contentions among brothers.(Pr 6:16-19)

Much is said in the book of Proverbs about the trouble, grief, and damage brought by gossiping, as well as the gravity of the guilt resting on the talebearer. The ‘choice morsel’ of a slanderer is “swallowed greedily” by its hearer and is not taken lightly but makes a lasting impression, going down “into the innermost parts of the belly.” Therefore it causes trouble, and the speaker cannot ‘wash his hands’ of guilt. Though such a person may appear very gracious and may disguise his true heart condition, God will see to it that the hate and badness that is actually within him is “uncovered in the congregation.” He will fall into the pit he has dug for someone else.—Pr 26:22-28.

(1 Peter 4:15) .*.*.However, let none of YOU suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a busybody in other people’s matters.

A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much. Proverbs 20:19 NIV

Do not spread false reports. DO not help a wicked man by being a malicious wittiness.
Exodus 23:1 NIV

Telling lies about others is as harmful as hitting them with an ax, wounding them with a sword or shooting them with a sharp arrow.
Proverbs 25:18 NLT

Therefore rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.
1 Peter 2:1 NIV

Summing it all up: Be agreeable, be sympathetic, be loving, be compassionate, be humble. That goes for all of you, no exceptions. No retaliation. No sharp tonged sarcasm. Instead, bless- that's your job, to bless. You'll be a blessing and also get a blessing.
1 Peter 3:8-9
