Another pug question: How to train her to ride in our truck without jumping in our...

...laps? So she's small, and doesn't do any damage while she rides with us. But we have a two seater Toyota four runner, and she usually sits in my lap with her head out the window (I hold on to her leash in case she gets too excited). But she is so excited that she'll try to jump into the drivers lap, then she'll go to the passenger floorboard, then she'll go into the cab, then back in my lap, then look out the window, then back in the driver's lap...see what I'm getting at here? How do I get her to stay in the back of the cab, or just in my lap or floorboard?

This Toyota is from 1985...it only has a small cab and two seats...

get a doggy basket and put it in an area that you want it. after that make sure she rides in the basket. put her back as many times as it takes for her to get the idea she has to stay in the basket. the surest way is to put her in the baskets and hold her down for 3-5 minutes and she will most likly abandon her attempts to jump out of the basket.

you can get a doggy seat belt that you can put in the back seat.

i have had two of them

put a doggie seatbelt on her and keep her in the back seat


or simply train her to SIT and stay

She really needs to be in a crate. She is overly excited and head out the window could result in an eye injury from flying debris. It's a really bad idea. If you are in accident, she'll become a flying object, be seriously hurt and you could get hurt by her flying through the passenger compartment too.

Being in a crate will calm her down and keep her safe.
