Can I hook up my 360 to my computer to get an internet connection?

I dont have a direct connection because the modem is downstairs. but i have wireless on my computer and i dont want to spend $100 on an xbox wireless receiver. so i was wondering if i plugged my xbox into my computer is there someway i can get an internet connection?
