well i have 2 guesses
-dead battery. sometimes other things will work,but the car wont try to turn over so you could try jumping it or charging the battery
-maybe your silent alarm or whatever you car has was tripped and it went to a "safe mode" or whatever and cut the ignition
you could also try turning the key on or off 5 or 6 times and see if that makes a difference. good luck
