Okay, so its been debated and debated. Is Ozzy religious. Well I know so things that have lead me to believe he is religious. For 1: He always wears a cross. The story is that Black Sabbath all started wearing them after a group of devil worshipers cursed them. 2: The Osbournes own large crosses and crucifixes. 3: In the booklet to the Randy Rhodes tribute album, Ozzy has put in a copy of a letter he wrote to the dead Randy. In it he ends with: "God bless ya my friend." 3: In "I Don't wanna Stop" Ozzy sings,"All these religions but only one God I don't need another saviour. 4: He takes a strong stance against pornography and violence. 5: He has ended shows saying things like,"God bless you all, man!" I personally beliece he is some form of Christian. Please submit facts or opinions and don't tell me how old of a debate this is!!!

As far as I know, at least 2 members of Black Sabbath are Christian: Bill Ward is openly a Born again Christian and Geezer Butler has defined himself as a Catholic, and a recent song on a solo album expressed anger at Islamic terrorism in the name of God ("not in my name", I think it was called). That said, their songs bounce between virtually evangelic ("After forever" "Spiral Architect") through thouroughly skeptical ("Supernaut"), to obsessed with the occult ("NIB"). There's a surprising tendancy toward the former, however. Even the more 'Satanic' songs often express fear of Satan, rather than worship ("Black Sabbath": "Oh God help me!" refrain in the face of Satanic visitation, "Your world was made for you by someone above, but you choose evil ways instead of love" in Satanic gloating etc.). There's a lot of dancing between the light in the dark on the early LPs in particular, and the band even apparently believed in a spiritual 5th member, whose influence was ambiguous...

Anyway! Enough about the mythology, and I don't know much about his solo stuff....

He's also defined his Prince of Darkness persona as pantomine, and slagged of Marilyn Manson (and his Dad) for not knowing when to take the makeup off! He's also slagged off happy clappy Christian stuff ("Bloody Kum ba ya!") - who knows? The whole original band seem big on crosses though (the normal way up).... seen Tony Iommis guitar?

There's some other webpage which says he declared himself Christian on some MTV show, so assuming that's true and not taken out of context, I'd go with that - less of this looking for mystic signs! :)

I don't really know but i think he is christian.the thing i'm sure of is that he isn't satanic and there is nothing satanic in his songs he never worship satan.i most think he is scared of it

im not sure how many Black Sabbath songs were actually written by Ozzy... i know that 'After Forever' the lyrics were almost fully from Iommi. the song 'Under the Sun' was written by Ozzy (im pretty sure) sounds pretty against organized relgion "well i dont want no jesus freak to tell me what its all about/ no black magician telling me to cut my soul out", "i dont want no preacher telling me about the god in the sky/ no i dont want no one telling me to go where i die/ i wanna live my life i dont want people telling me what to do/ i just believe in myself cuz no one else is true", and in one of his solo songs i just want you theres the line "there are no believeable gods"... im sure theres a lot of other lyrics scattered around...
but i think ozzy isnt part of any specific relgion per se, but he has his own unique religious and spiritual beliefs and doesnt wanna go around telling other people to believe in this or that and just keeps it to himself and thinks that everyone should find their own path and beliefs and not just go with whatever religion anyone tries to shove down your throats... thats just my .02

well I've heard that ozzy and black sabbath wore crosses because a friend of ozzy told him it would bring him luck. I think he doesn't have a proper religion. He might believe in some sort of philosophy he created. One thing is for sure,he isn't satanic. I've seen a few interviews to black sabbath where they talked about how much they hated having to be labeled as a satanic, son of the devil, possessed etc etc band. Personally I don't see him much as a religious person,he's just a guy who's tried and is trying to simply have fun in any possible way. He might not be religious but he sure is one hell of a musician.
