Has anyone else got detention for cell phone issues?

Last week, my cell phone, that I thought I had turned off rang during class. I was sent to the office, and was given a detention. It sucked, oh well. It was two hours long of after school detention. I'm in High School, 10th grade. I had to sit there at a desk and do homework. Since I don't drive yet, I had to tell my parents, and they weren't happy that they had to come pick me up after the detention was over.

in my day we all respected the teacher and school policy. we politely rose our hands to say somethng then said sorry for anything wrong we did. we said yes maam and no maam.

they should have not give you detention but give you a warning or take it away until the end of class.

I haven't had a detention but I've confiscated many phones in my class.

No warnings. It's in the handbook.

Students lose their phones and don't get them back until their parents come and get them.

Be lucky it was only a detention. Waiting for your parents to find time to come get your phone could be worse. Imagine losing it on a Friday or before a holiday. Ouch! It's happened to my students.

I think you should have been given a warning first before detention.
