Can I use a Dell Windows XP cd to get into recovery console on a non Dell computer?

The Dell disc is XP Pro, but the installation on the other computer is media center? Does that matter? I just need to run the fixmbr command.

It's not a Dell Windows XP cd, its just Windows XP, the fact that it has Dell stuff on it is the image that they created and put on ur PC.

you don't need a Disc to recovery a computer that have xP in XP it already build in where you can auto recovery without using OS, but what you can do is reformate or delete all the files inside that Hard drive and use that Xp OS on it. good luck mate.
