Building Cars, a Legitimate Hobby?

I'm a 21 year old female who's always been fairly interested in automotive and old school muscle cars. I've recently started a new job that provides me with a great deal of stress, and I'm looking for a way to unwind. Ever since I've had my license I've been in love with cars and driving. Although I don't have any engineering experience I want to know if it would be possible for me to learn how to build a car. I wouldn't mind taking classes, and I'm aware that the materials are expensive and that the projects are time consuming and long, but I have a feeling like it's something I would really want to do.

Are their any car builders out there who have any suggestions for me, like where to start, any classes to take?
