gobe, and anchor is almost. an object of worship and the Marine Corps hymn is treated like a church song? the Commandant is treated almost like the pope and many Marines believe their boot camp is some sacred initiation. why the Marine Corps thinks their branch is the one and only?

The marines are a small tight knit community and they consider themselves elite.
If you've ever met a religious freak, they are crazy about it and would do anything for it. Thats kind of what the Marine corp wants, for their men to be the best at what they do and to do anything and everything for the corp.
PS- I'm not trying to make it sound bad or anything
