How long will it take? Some people say 8 hours, others say 15. Is it too little to drive there, stay for one night, and then come back?
Road Trip from DC to Niagara Falls?

That's a fun trip. 
I used to live on the VA side of the metro area, and drove to Niagara for a vacation a few years back. We had a blast! It's definitely more in the 8 hour range. That would be a very quick trip overnight! (But it could be done, yes.) I'd suggest going for a long weekend. Not that there's tons to do actually at Niagara, but then you could even go over to Canada or just take your time driving through the beautiful northeast. Oooh.. you could go see the Great Lakes, too. Some of the best adventures from my roadtrips have been during the journey to/from the main attraction.
If you have the time, you could go through Hershey, PA. That's a fun little place, too... just a thought.
