It really depends on what time of year ... if you come during the summer, go to Sauvie Island, buy a parking permit at the grocery just after you cross the bridge, and set out for a day of adventure! You can ride your bike or drive, but the parking areas require the $3 a day permit. You can see wildlife reserves (mostly birds) and go to farm markets, pick your own fruit and flowers, sun bathe and hang out at the beaches, fish or kayak in the lakes and rivers, camp or stay at RV park, and hike trails all over the island.
