The matches are set for the Friday foursomes session at the 2014 Ryder Cup, with captains Tom Watson and Paul McGinley blindly submitted their rosters ahead of their announcement.
Both captains made adjustments based on how the morning session has unfolded, while Watson kept his promise to put each of his 12 players into a match on Day 1.
Match 5: Jamie Donaldson/Lee Westwood (EUR) vs. Jim Furyk/Matt Kuchar (USA): Furyk and Kuchar are very steady players who handle the wind pretty well. They have similar styles, so should fare well against Westwood and Donaldson, who is making his Ryder Cup debut in this match.
PREDICTED WINNER: Jim Furyk/Matt Kuchar (USA)
Match 6: Justin Rose/Henrik Stenson (EUR)*vs. Hunter Mahan/Zach Johnson*(USA): Given the camaraderie Rose and Stenson showed in their morning pasting of Bubba Watson and Webb Simpson, they should cruise against Mahan and Johnson, who have not been playing their best golf of late.
PREDICTED WINNER: Justin Rose/Henrik Stenson (EUR)
Match 7: Rory McIlroy/Sergio Garcia (EUR)*vs. Jimmy Walker/Rickie Fowler*(USA): This is the only match-up of teams that went out in the morning session. Walker and Fowler are sneaky long, matching styles for the alternate-shot format. McIlroy and Garcia seem a better team for fourballs, but Garcia is a Ryder Cup assassin. Look for a U.S. upset.
PREDICTED WINNER:*Jimmy Walker/Rickie Fowler*(USA)
Match 8: Victor Dubuisson/Graeme McDowell (EUR)*vs. Phil Mickelson/Keegan Bradley*(USA): The Europeans have been saying all week they expect the Frenchman Dubuisson to come out of his shell and be a Ryder Cup star. It's hard to see that happening against Mickelson and Bradley, who take a step down in opponents for the afternoon session.
PREDICTED WINNER:*Phil Mickelson/Keegan Bradley*(USA)

It's no surprise that Webb Simpson and Bubba Watson are sitting out the afternoon. After not making a single birdie in their morning drubbing against Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson, they may ride the pine for a while.
What's shocking isn't who is playing so much as who isn't. Patrick Reed and Jordan Spieth clicked on every level in their morning session win, but have been asked to sit in the afternoon instead of continuing on together or with different partners.
