    "ban this sick filth"

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2010193/Teachers-strike-Sophie-Howard-13-killed-falling-branch-school-closed.html

is it just me or is this attempt by the right wing, hysterical, fear mongering, reactionary news paper the daily mail to blame the death of a young girl in a freak accident on a public sector strike, simply based on the fact she would (probably?) have been in school and not the park where it happened had there been no strike one of the most cringe worthy and disgusting pieces of journalism you have ever seen.

That is terrible journalistic spin - they should be ashamed, but sadly they won't be. Luckily the saner comments at the bottom seem to echo this aspect

Yeah. Its nobody's fault. Just an accident. If it wasnt her maybe someone else might have been sitting there at the time. To blame it on the strikers is just sad.

    "ban this sick filth"

Last year a Police Officer went jogging in the park on his day off, a tree branch fell and crushed his skull.
If he was on duty instead of relaxing on his day off.. this wouldnt have happened.

or at least thats how the DM wouldve spinned it.

Immigants, I knew it was the immigants even when it was the teachers strike.

Has this article been edited? It looks fairly innocuous now with only a passing mention about the teachers strike, yet the header indicates it's a major point of the story?

The comments on the article suggest that the article was, at one point, heavily strike oriented. I wouldn't be surprised if the DM edited the article after realising how bad the backlash was. If you look at the comments with high and low ratings, you'll see that even DM readers are incredulous at the notion that the strike was to blame.

A quick google around the issue shows that the Daily Mail is being lambasted all over the web.

This article shows the original headline.
