installed on it. However...? As I said, my cellphone is a Smartphone, and it is a Motorola Backflip that has its Blur software installed on it. It has many different functions such as WiFi, GPS, email, etc.

Since last night, I found out 2 problems: first, that the phone's battery - a Motorola BN80 3.7V lithium ion battery - is overheating, even when it is detatched from a power source, such as a charger. When it is put into my pocket or a cell phone holster, it is still hot. Secondly, last night, when it was functioning, I turned it on but then I went to its browser, and then the phone just rebooted again as if it were fresh from the charger. Now the phone will not even turn on.

I'm not sure if the problem is heat, or the battery, or both.

However, to remedy the problem, is it cost-effective to buy or replace a battery or to buy a new phone altogether?

Thank you all very much for your kind help.

You can always try to get a new battery first, a battery usually costs from $4 - $15 depending where you get it. This is a very out dated phone , Android 1.5, a very small screen, very slow.

If your on a budget, get a used HTC Wildfire S, it is a better phone, Android 2.3, it sells on eBay used for under $50, it is a full feature smartphone . I just picked a white one up last month for $39 with shipping (no charger. no sd card).
