...to something getting...? Something getting twice the miles per gallon?

No, I don't think so.

I think that, as gasoline continues to be expensive and alternatives are increasingly available, the market will shift away from gas-fueled vehicles in general the same way we shifted away from candlelight as electric lights became cheap and available.

We don't need to pressure people into adapting. They'll adapt themselves when gas stations begin to get less common, and the price of gas goes up to $5 or $7 or $10. Why strongarm them into it? Did we have to have government programs pressuring people to give up horse-drawn wagons for automobiles? If gas truly isn't the energy of the future, then all we have to do is wait.

nope. you have a right to drive what you want. THey make them, they sell them, if you can afford the gas you can buy and drive them. That's freedom of choice.

Why? I fill it up once a month, if that. And it has over 450,000 miles on it. Why would I throw out a perfectly good automobile? It's big enough to haul a small boat, which is helpful. And it runs beautifully. AND I can maintain it in my own garage because it has a simple engine. No complicated parts. No computer.

(Though, it does get more than 10 mpg even if it's a big car.)

My personal vehicle is an F-150, my company vehicle is a Toyota Prius,,, I hate that damn Prius, when they make a truck that gets 20 mpg I'll gladly buy it.

Oh. So now the little commie wants to dicktate what I drive. Wrap your lips round the tailpipe of my Ford

Then that will put factories producing SUVs out of business, resulting in layoffs and higher unemployment. Then you liberals cry that the boss is greedy

no, its cheaper to gas than buy parts and pay for your own funeral when you hit a rabbit and die in a tiny car
