So, I live in Canada and use sasktel on an Android with an unlimited everything plan, including data, so I pay say, 100$ since I'm not entirely sure the exact amount, for everything, no matter how much data or calls I use.
So I'm wondering, since I use the skype app every day, and I'm going to the U.S. for a month and I have no other way to contact anyone, they don't have phones, so will I have to pay extra for using skype out of Canada? It's just the text part of it, not calls.

Skype will work anywhere as long as you are connected to the internet. And as long as the country doesn't ban VoIP services. So Skype will still work in the US. The thing is though you have to think of a way to get an internet connection for your phone. Roaming service is an option but its hell expensive. I think you are not going to Skype every hour so a stop to a place with free Wi-Fi will do the trick.
