Car Audio CD receiver audio settings with amplifier?

Thanks in advance to whoever can clarify question. I just installed a cd receiver and two amplifiers, one for rear speakers and one for sub woofer. Im somewhat confused if its okay to adjust audio settings like LPF, HPF, Equalizer, ETC. I heard when installing amplifiers Im not suppose to mess with the receiver settings, instead, adjust settings on amplifiers; is this correct?

Being an installer for years, and also an audiophile/basshead, I usually adjust amps for the best overall sound, then use head unit settings as needed, as different music is recorded to suit different listening enviroments. Its easier to fine tune from head unit, than to tune at amps for variations in recorded sound.
