Japan: How do you cook your..?

Rice & Salmon? What spice or seasonings? I often top fish with green onion, and soy sauce, but I wanted to know how it is prepared in Japan. I love the culture there! Thank you.

Soy sauce on salmon would not be right. The only seasoning that's right for salmon is salt. You sprinkle salt on your salmon, if you like, you can let it stand for a few minutes and wipe off the moisture that seeps out and resprinkle salt. Broil or grill.

Rice is best cooked in a rice cooker for anyone who eats it every day. You can cook it in a crock pot or metal pot if you're hardcore, but there's no reward in doing so. Rice is best by itself in a rice bowl, not as a side to the salmon. Seasoning the rice is not right, but chopped green onion is an excellent topping for the rice.
