whats a good home theater surround sound brand?

can someone let me know what a good brand is and why? and info..maybe a good watt to look for? kinda clueless on surround sounds for tv. all i know is that we have a SONY model no. SS-TS500 right now. in the link is what we have plus a subwoofer i believe. any info is helpful .thanks

I like Yamaha. Their systems use an actual Yamaha receiver, albeit their cheaper ones. Yamaha speakers are ok.
