because they seem as though they know who they are as a person, and they are either very beautiful/handsome or very good at what they do, making people admire them for that and be "obsessed" with them. most cases people obsess over someone for looks though, or a combo of the two. OR if theyre rich, which personally i find it SO dumb when people become famous for being rich. (*cough cough* the kardashians)
