i just puchase this item (samsung bd-e5500 blueray 3d player)
but i do not have a 3d tv,can i still use it like a 2d player and play 2d dvds and all the other functionson this player

Yep.
3D Blu-Ray Players are backwards compatible. You can play regular Blu-Ray and regular DVD's and it will work just fine.
