I bought it yesterday and it is a long tailed fighting fish. When I try to feed it, it just sucks it in then chews on it a bit then spits it out? Why is it doing this? I'm feeding it pellets.

My betta fish does the exact same thing when I first got it. But I left the food in the tank for about a half hour and removed any left overs. I tried feeding it again and it took in some food. Try feeding your betta another brand pellets. I recommend floating flakes that are made specially for betta fish. Freeze-dried bloodworms are another choice, but it's very unhealthy for your fish. Feeding your betta bloodworms once a week would be a good routine. Remember not to overfeed your fish! Good luck, hope this helped.
