I had a warning indicator go off the other day saying I have low oil pressure. Typical idle is at 25 P then driving is between 30-40 P. Is this normal?
Actually that does sound ok. I have a 12.7L Detroit diesel engine in my semi and it runs 40 psi at 1500 rpm. Idles at 20 most of the time. The engine has almost 600K miles on it so I know it's doing ok. I used to have a 01 Dodge 2500 with the Cummins and those readings were similar.
That's a little low for a diesel. Is the oil level full. Check that. It may be a failing oil pump, or sending unit not reading the pressure properly. Good Luck.
