Need Help With slow Internet and Windows Vista?

I just bought a new dell computer with windows vista on it and my internet is beyond slow + sometimes it doesn't even work. When i had windows XP my internet was fast and i never had a problem connecting. I tried using the diagnose tools but sometimes it says there is not problem, sometimes it says there is a problem but vista cannot fix, and sometimes rarely it comes with a DNS error of some sort. I use mozzila firefox and the problem also occurs in IE. What usually happens is when i click firefox it goes to the main page quickly like it suppose to and then when I go to another site it takes forever or it doesn't go at all. Also my dell network assistance is always popping up and trying to fix my connection every time which it does but then it just fails again. I have Comcast HighSped internet and it's wired to a modem, so no wireless here. Also one more thing, every time i reset my modem it works perfect for like 2 min. and then it goes away. Also tried flushing dns, doesnt work.

There are lot of factors that affects your speed like Simultaneously if you run lot of software's,There may be a chance of virus attack in your dell etc..So try to check everything and all.
If you have slow download speed,Try to keep in mind the following instructions
    1.Get a download accelerator
2.Turn off all unused apps while downloading
3.Don't upload information while you're downloading
4.Make sure your router is free of any interference
    5.Update your network device driver
6.You must always keep your laptop clean of any viruses
7.clear your temporary download history files.
8.Use latest version of any browser
    9.Do regular speed test.
When i had the same problem,i followed the same ways.I am sure,it's very useful to increase your internet speed. Then you can check your new internet speed using ScanmySpeed.com
