...disappears? I am wondering this because my boyfriend says he isnt going on his phone for facebook but i see his phone icon go off and on randomly

ok well the thing is is that our phones are off so we cant access the internet unless its through someones wireless and he said the neighbor locked his wireless and like i said the icon disappears and reapears.

It depends on the phone. On the iPhone / iPod it means they are online.

But remember, even when they quit the app, and lock there iDevice, it will still show them on until they close the app on the multitask bar.
