Do you have temporary unlocked iPhone 3gs or permanent unlocked device ? If your iPhone 3gs got unlocked for temporary purpose, surely it will re-locked to your carrier . If you want to avoid such situation, use Remote unlocking method to unlock your iPhone 3gs before updating it . After unlocking your device, you can upgrade its ios to any of the latest firmware version . It won't gets locked again . Because, it is one of the permanent unlocking solution for iPhones . You can get this service from any of the online vendors like OnlineGSMUnlock.com to unlock it in a safe manner . It doesn't requires jailbreaking .
