Need help deciding on a truck or SUV to buy?

I live in New Mexico and love to go out to the middle of nowhere and camp out for the weekend and would prefer to sleep in the truck or suv to avoid the scorpions and snakes. I take my mountain bike and my 2 dogs (large pound puppies). I also ride a motorcycle so need something to pull a trailer. In town I drive my little Honda Civic or my Suzuki Intruder motorcycle and need either a truck or SUV to do the more adventurous aspects of my life. I was thinking anything small but strong, if a truck must have an option for a camper to be put onto it. I love to take my dogs everywhere with me and when on trips to be able to sleep in the back and stay comfortable in both the summer and winter. Ideas so far have been the Toyota 4runner or even a minivan. Any better ideas are greatly welcomed!
