I bought a Samsung Gravity Smart android phone from T-Mobile a couple of months ago and I "rooted" the phone and deleted some first party apps that I did not want. So my question is that is by rooting the phone did I also unlock the phone? I do not if they are the same thing or if by rooting the phone did I also unlock it and able to use it on other gsm networks? Any help would be helpful thank you!

No ! Rooting is different from Unlocking process . Android rooting is the process of allowing users of smartphones, tablets, and other devices running the Android mobile operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's sub-system.

Unlocking :

Unlocking helps to use other GSM networks . If you want to unlock your Samsung Gravity, use unlock code . You can get it from any of the online vendors like Unlock-Zone.com to unlock it .
