How to Put Ringtones on Samsung Intensity I?

I have a Samsung intensity one. I want to put a new ringtone on it by dropping it in a folder in the phone. I have the file right now cut to the part i like and now just want to put it on and have it work. I Don't wanna pay for those dumb Verizon crud application things, being i have no data so no phone email. Any ways? I'm kinda thinking it might work if it was in MIDI format cuz the rest of the ringtones are or the sound files are in QCELP format....so confused............
