Im a little confused about it all and have some questions. All these situations are hypothetical.
1. If I have a 1000 watt amp and 2 subs, Is each sub going to get 500 watts or is each going to get 1000? Or does this depend on the wiring?
2. If I get a 1000 watt amp and have 2 subs each with a 400 watt max, is it bad that the amp is putting out more than the subs can handle, or will the subs just top out at their max?
3. If I have 2 subs, do I have to get a 2 channel amp? If I get 2 more subs later on, do i need to either switch to a 4 channel amp or get another 2 channel amp?
4. What is the deal with ohms? Is it better to have more or less? Do I have to match the number of ohms from the subs with the amp?
5. What do voice coils have to do with it? What should I look for there?
6. Is there any chance of my being able to wire them myself? Or would i get much better performance having a professional do it? About how much would I be spending to have a pro install everything?
