Now that their Rev. Wright smear has failed, are repubs back to spreading rumors

that Obama is a Muslim?
He either is a Christian who spent 20 years at a church listening to the sermons of Rev. Wright, or he is a Muslim to went to a Madrassa.

Repubs just can't up their minds, can they?

Who cares if he was a Muslim. However, we should care if he believes in liberation black theology. If he has been going to that church for 20 years, something is wrong.

But hey, if that doesn't bother you then maybe these will:

Continue the war in Iraq and start wars with Pakistan, Iran and Latin America.
Bankrupt the country by bringing in universal health care and raising taxes.
Continue the way to the North American Union.
Not addressing the real issues of monetary policy.
Continue the Socialist policies that have been happening for many decades.

He was one before he was the other and that is a FACT. Personally, i think the 20 years at the separatist church was the worst. And he can't separate himself from it. Mainstream America will not go for it. Wright was no smear, and it DID work. Watch and see.

I agree the Obama is a Muslim bit is not fair. But I do not see how you can consider exposing what has been going on in Obama's spiritual life for the last 20 years is a smear. It is part of his make up. It reflects his belief system and tells us much about his character.

We have a right to know what he knows and when he knew it. Why he claimed he was not aware of the racism, anti-Americanism and anti-semitism. Why he changed his story and tried a Clintonesque spin about specific dates and times when he knew perfectly well what his Pastor of Disaster was preaching. He obviously believes it, too. Believes it enough to bring his young daughters there to experience it first hand. Believes it enough to donate over 20 grand to the church last year!

I am a proud Republican and I don't mind telling you there is plenty wrong with both Democrat candidates (our own leaves much to be desired as well) without making anything up or spreading unfounded rumors. That sounds like a Clinton operative to me.

Newsflash!

Clinton continues to smear Obama about this issue.

She even has told many Super delegates that it will make Obama unelectable in the GE.

There was no smear with Rev Wright...only that the so called man of God used God's name in vain at the pulpit for public consumption, rendering his minstry at that point null and void. Why Obama would step into that church one minute more and priase the man as being his mentor, etc. is truly beyond me.

I have walked out of churches when the theology became political. I left the Episcopal church completely because I couldn't find one that didn't preach politics...so I walk the walk and talk the talk...

There was no smear Wright was exposed for being a black racist.

Anyone who says the CIA created HIV to kill blacks is liar.

Wright has shown blacks are just as racist and bigoted as everyone else.

Face it you don't like the exposure of reality on people like Wright.

These smears virtually only exist on this site, where people (not just Republicans) can get their daily dose of "Ha, gotcha, everyone who agrees with me pat me on the back!" The "questions" about him being a Muslim and "typical white person" and babies being a punishment are perpetuated ad nauseum on here and add nothing to the political discourse. Most of the country has moved on, but some people on here are stuck on the non story of yesterday. I guess they have nothing better to talk about.

1- Clinton, not the Republicans, lead the Rev. Wright attack.

2- I have heard many black ministers say essentially the same thing as Wright. Besides being taken out of context, his job is not to provide the guidance of Jesus to the masses, his job is to "put butts in the pews."

3- I am white.

4- I voted for Bush the first time, voted Libertarian last time, and I will vote for Obama in the Indiana primary in May. I will await the choosing of running mates to decide who to vote for in November.

What smear? The man is a racist and the proof is in his sermons. Is Obama a racist? I am beginning to believe that he is. I would never be involved with any organization who spreads hatred but it OK for a presidential candidate to belong? if Hillery's church said the same about blacks she would be out of the race let alone what Wright said about AMERICA (HE SAID GOD DAMN AMERICA) This is apparently OK with you?

The Reverend Wright factor has popped up again as Wright made the news last night by making an appearance at his former church. I expect the good Reverend will make a good club for McCain to use to hit Obama over the head in the general election.

No, they can't make up their minds.

Obama as a Muslim:

This is like a dog chasing its tail. This has been gone over time and time and time again.

Obama is not a Muslim.

Regarding Obama "swearing in" on the Koran--wrong.
http://politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2007/dec/20/chain-email-gets-obama-religion-wrong/
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/sliming_obama.html

It was Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison, not Obama.

And in fact, congressmen don't swear on any religious text. They just raise their right hand. Some carry religious texts with them.
I cannot believe that all these right wingers refuse to believe that someone can be brought out of the muslim faith or from a muslim area and no longer be even influenced by it.

Guess they're only willing to listen when Pat Robertson or one of his cronies says it. Or were they secretly afraid he was going to pull a bomb on them, too? Was his conversion genuine? Do you believe the 700 Club, Conservatives?

The "Obama is a Muslim" story came from the Republican side.

It was originated from Obama's opponent in the 2004 Illinois Senate campaign, Andy Martin.

BEGIN QUOTE

"I feel sad having to expose Barack Obama," says Martin, "but the man is a complete fraud. The truth is going to surprise, and disappoint, and outrage many people who were drawn to him. He has lied to the American people, and he has sought to misrepresent his own heritage.

Fiction: Obama was given an 'African' name. Fact: Obama is a Muslim who has concealed his religion....he has treated his Muslim heritage as a dark secret. His grandfather was named 'Hussein.' That is an Arabic-Muslim, not African, name. Hussein was a devout Muslim and named his son, Barack Senior, 'Baraka.'

END QUOTE

The email began circulating not long after Martin's news conference, and was propagated in Debbie Schussel's opinion column.

black liberation theology has many similarities to islamic teachings. this would be a reason Trinity church honored Luis Farakhan as a great leader. Its not a surprise the two have been easily interchanged.
