Why can't I get a Divx movie to work in Window Movie Maker?

I do have the Divx AND the Xvid codec, and the video works fine in Windows Media Player.

All that happens in WMM is the audio plays, and it isnt counted as a video file, though there is a picture instead of music icon, but when I place it on the timeline it wont go in the movie section but the audio section only.


Sry, should have said that I have had this file work in WMM before, but not on this PC. But just going to try WinAVI

Windows Movie Maker isn't always the best for importing files... best thing to do is convert it to WMV first (I use WinAVI for that), and then it'll work fine.

WMM only support wmv aand wmm files but you can download a converter

Because windows media player doesn't have the de-coder that Divx has..
pretty much same principal why you can't read a divx dvd on a normal dvd player
