I have windows player and I downloaded a music video I want to watch. But when I try I get audio but no video. The error message says that I need xvid codec. I tried their web help button but all I got was a blank page. I downloaded the official xvid but Media Player still says same error. What am I doing wrong?
Oh yeah, I have a windows 98 computer and if possible i don't want to install another media player.

K so I'm a mac and I'm 100 precent sure that there are at least 2 media players for this:
1. Miro (http://getmiro.org) Miro is awesome for downloading torrents/podcast feeds and it has a beautiful interface and can play different codecs.
2. VLC Player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc) VLC can play almost any format and is great for streaming media.

Both are useful tools.
OK That's it

You need to install codecs to play certain video and audio formats. Download and install this pack...

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_codec_pack.htm

You should now be able to play whatever format on any media player on your computer... that is if your operating system is Windows.
