I have a few questions regarding my 2000 mitsubishi montero.?

My battery died, and so I had to enter my radio code - but my compass is acting funny. An "S" just goes around in circles. I tried pushing the button by the compass, but nothing happened. Is there a reset button?

I bought it used and the owner's manual was missing - so forgive me for asking questions on here. Replacement owner's manuals are expensive. My next questions is regarding the 4 wheel drive indicator light on the dashboard. The front two wheels continue to blink. I wouldn't think this is normal.
