Is there anyway that I can play ps2 games on a ps3 40GB?

No, if you really want to play ps2 games on a ps3 trade yours in for the 60GB.

No not unless Sony add some sort of PS2 emulation to the firmware in the future, which I doubt they will to be honest.I live in the UK and its practically impossible to find anything but the 40gb version though, so if you own a PS2 game you feel is really worth playing then either look for a 60gb on ebay or another 2nd hand retailer or keep hold of the PS2 alternatively if you don't own a PS2 you can get them really cheap.I guess it comes down to how many PS2 games you'd actually be likely to play again, and how much its worth to play these money wise.

yes, there is a waymany other answers are correct in the way that you can't play ps2 games on the 40gb because it is not backwards compatible, but they forgot that Playstation Network offers PS2 + PS1 games for sale to save on your hard drive, so if there is a game you really like and want to be able to play on PS3, just buy it again on Playstation Network and transfer your games saves through usb, the advantage is you will also be able to play your game in HD because the the PS3 will upconvert the standard 480i to whatever you resolution is (720p)hope that helpedgood luck!

Quite a bit of people ask that and I even wondered that. I have a 40GB and can't play PS2 games no matter how you set it up. You might be able to contact playstation and they may be able to set that up for you but could cost 50-100$

No, you can't play PS2 games on the 40GB PS3. Sony took out the hardware/software for PS2 compatibility on the 40GB model. All of the other PS3's can play PS2 games.

No you cannot. However there is some compatibility with PS1 games.Best thing to do is keep your PS2 or buy one as they aren't much more expensive than a PS3 game at the moment!
