This week’s Pet of the Week is Dee!
Fellow b5′er Marijke writes:
“Dee is a 9 year old retired greyhound brood mom. Her racing name was Cee Bar Denise and she had 3 litters before she retired and we adopted her this past November. This is her very first (and only!) home with her very own forever couch and forever family. She adapted to home and family life without a single bit of trouble.
“We call her Brat girl and numerous other names as she is a sassy, bratty, loving girl. She’s my first female dog ever and she’s gorgeous. Many people have the mistaken belief that greyhounds are high maintenance and difficult dogs to have, but they aren’t called 45 mph couch potatoes for nothing!
“Dee is our second greyhound. We had a beautiful red fawn greyhound, named Oscar, who died of cancer this past August, the week before he turned five years old. His racing name was Answer to Chevy, but he only raced four times before his owner and trainer realized that it was not meant to be. He came to us when he was 22 months old. Sadly, he died just a week after a book about him was published: Oscar’s Diaries, Life as a Retired Greyhound.”
Thanks, Marijke!
