.Xvid files will not play in my windows media player for the life of me.?

I downloaded a simple 2 hour .xvid file from a secure server, and I have downloaded this file before without any problems. Since this is a new computer when the file didn't play the first time i wasn't surprised and downloaded the shark007 vista codec pack and it still won't work. Since then i have installed and uninstalled many video players like divx and winamp and still... NO LUCK! So I'm looking for a little advice on something I may have missed or perhaps some sort of application i can use before I screw this computer up with too many codecs.

You need a video convertert to convert xvid to wmv format for windows media player. Now I recommend a super video converter for you. It is named iMovie Total Video Converter Pro. It is
professional to convert different video files, such as converting xvid to wmv, avi to mp4, wmv to mkv, flv to mov, etc. It can also be used to convert videos to iPod, iPhone, Apple TV and other portable players. To help you enjoy more beautiful videos, it has edit functions. It can crop black edges,
trim or clip any part of time, merge some videos into one file, etc.

Please visit http://www.imoviesoft.com/products/total-video-converter.html for more details. You can free download it here

You can Download and Run Gspot to determine which codec you need to play that specific file.
