Is getting a XviD codec safe?

Yes it is perfectly safe from that site. That is the site that Microsoft points you to get that codec so it is fine. I have it on all of my computers and haven't had any problems from it.

ive been seeing comments that xvid is safe, but im uncertain if it is. i recently removed a trojan virus from my laptop buy installing Windows 7. Xvid was one of the files that was part of the virus. I dont know if maybe it had just gotten infected or if it was the problem from the start. Is there a certain site where Xvid is safe to download from? Im trying to watch movies from watch-movies.net.in and to watch the movies it asks to install Xvid Codec
