so i want a phone , but i don't want it now, so i wanted to wait till im ready .
im scared that buy next year or so it wont be there, there will be a different one , that maybe i wont want .
so can i just buy the phone now , and not set it up ?

You can only do what you are speaking of with a pay&talk phone, they can be activated whenever you please.
