which is better Lexus or Bmw?

I want to buy 2002 Bmw 525 or 2003 Lexus gs300 and want to know which one is last longer, i know that Bmw nicer to drive, and have a good performance, they both have inline ingines and rear wheel drives,
but i am not sure which motor would work longer .

    thank you,

BMW's are nice, but cost more to work on.

    Too many unanswered questions.

You don't say how many miles they have on them, and you have no idea what kind of life they have led. Since the BMW is a year older, one would suspect that it has more miles on it.

BMW's are definitely NOT more expensive to repair than Lexus. They are both complicated, highly sophisticated machines with expensive parts.

Consumer Reports' surveys find that the '02s have some cooling sytem issues, while the Lexus GS models are uniformly excellent in all reliability categories.

Keep in mind, though, that Lexus have timing belts that need to be replaced at every 60,000 miles. This is an interval that is ignored at your peril. A friend thought he'd be selling his Audi TT so he put off changing the timing belt. He couldn't make up his mind on the replacement, and left it too long. We came back from driving candidates to find it had broken, and the valves had damaged the pistons, which damaged the block. BIG bucks!

BMW sixes have timing chains, typically good for 150,000 miles or more. (BMW says they're good for the life of the car.)

I would prefer the BMW. The engine should be about the same.
