Why are there so many mean people in the religion section?

Because the very nature of religion tends to bring out both the Best and Worst in people.

And in a consequence free forum like this, they can be as nasty as they wanna be.

i dont know. i guess a lot of reasons. one, they dont take others' religions seriously. two, they dont have respect for different beliefs other than theirs. and three, they dont know how to prove you wrong so they be mean. its just a guess, but i think thats what it is.

Well, the reason why a person would be mean would either because they are very serious about what they are talking about, or they ran out of proof that their point is true, which happens often in debates. When that happens, some people tend to go on the violent and I would say, "stupid" side. Although Christians blame Atheists for being mean, many Atheists blame Christians. I, personally, don't think that debates will help at all. If a person is truly standing with their belief, that person would only get more angry with the people they argue with. I prefer showing them God's love through grace and compassion, and answering questions that they give.
