If I get a samsung omnia smartphone from verizon is there an extra chargeon the

bill for using a smartphone? I was thinking of getting an omnia smartphone from verizon but I'm not sure if there's an extra charge on the bill for using a smartphone like there is for a blackberry phone.
I know there's an extra charge for email and web but is that an optional feature?
