I'm looking at the specs on these and then looking at my widescreen TV and my computer monitor. My computer LCD has a greater screen resolution than my widescreen TV that is twice the size (diagonal screen measurement).

I don't see how I will get a sharper picture first and formost.
Am I confused, or am I right on target?
My 20" LCD is 1680 x 1050.

My 42" TV has a lower maximum resolution.

I think your LCD monitor has a screen resolution of 1650 x 1080. That will produce a true 1080p picture. If your LCD TV has a lower resolution, it will only reproduce a 720p picture. You may be able to get a good 1080i picture on the TV, but it will not be the same quality as a 1080p picture.

Basically you need a new TV. Make sure it is 1080p capable.
