I teach 9th and 10th grade English, and most of my students also have Mr. Green for Algebra. When I see him in the halls before or after school he is always pleasant to me -- and other adults. But I suspect Mr. Green might hate kids. His class is apparently impossible to pass, since all my brightest kids are failing his class.
I hear atrocious things about him from my students, but I've also heard him being impossibly rude to my students in the halls. It's starting to worry me. I'm afraid that when my kids start bad-mouthing him I'm going to make the situation worse by agreeing with them. I can't do that.
Would it be improper to ask the guy about the way he handles his class and why all my students are failing?
