I have a stereo that i would like to install in me Ford expedition?

I have this stereo with great sound control and pretty good speakers and i want to install it in my car. I am not very technical at all when it comes to sound systems so please forgive me if i sound like a complete idiot. Its a pretty good stereo. It has a main part where you control the music that's playing, the volume, and put in cd's and such. Then it also has 2 speakers coming out of it the main part. The speakers can be detached with 2 low frequency wires coming out of them and one high frequency wire. Is there any way that i could install just the speakers in my Expedition? or would i need the main part?
