That probably is due to the fact that the media player you are using does not have the proper codec to play the video.
The free VLC has codecs installed within it and will play the video properly...
At 50kBs in your bittorrent clients, you are getting pretty close to your 512kbs connection speed as 8kb = 1kB so 50kBps = 400kbps.
