Microsoft Windows 10 Anniversary Update rolls out in New Zealand

Microsoft started rolling out the latest version of its Windows 10 OS, called Anniversary Update. Computers currently running Windows 10 have access to an improved experience and new features, depending on hardware support.
For example Windows Ink is a new workspace that allows you to quickly and easily take notes, sketch on a screenshot or draw out an idea with digital ink, when used on tablets with digital pen support.
Microsoft has also expanded its newest Microsoft Edge browser wity support for add-ons, while improving battery life by making the browser more power efficient.
Regarding the updated digital assistant Cortana, Microsoft New Zealand said "New Zealand is still one of the markets where Cortana is not available. However, we are looking forward to bringing it to New Zealand in future."
For home users there are a series of improvements to security with Windows Defender, now available even if you use a third party anti-malware solution. And Windows Hello, the framework for secure login and identification, now offers support for apps and websites via its Edge browser.
Enterprise users may not have access to this update right away, as some companies may have policies in place to allow for more time to test these features and how their existing business applications behave on this new platform. Of note is the new Windows Information Protection a tools that enables businesses to separate personal and organizational data and helps protect corporate data where ever it goes. Also of note is Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (WDATP), a service that detects, investigates and responds to advanced malicious attacks on networks by providing a more comprehensive threat intelligence and attack detection.
The update is available now via Windows Update but it is being released in waves. This means not everyone will get it at the same time. There are options for manual downloads for those who can't simply wait. The install process keeps your existing files and settings in place. It can take a different amount of time depending on system configuration - processor and storage speed as well as broadband speed for the download.
