The people rooting*Los Angeles Dodgers to advance to the World Series this year so that Vin Scully would continue to call games through October in his final season in the booth will be disappointed.

Scully, 88,*told the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday that he will not do any of the radio broadcasts (all playoff games are broadcasted on national TV) for the Dodgers in the postseason. With a four-game lead on the Giants in the division it appears a good bet they’ll get there too. Scully will do his final game at Dodger Stadium on Sept. 25 and close out his 67-year career Oct. 2 in San Francisco, and his reasoning for stepping away at the end of the regular season was a classic Scully quip:
“Otherwise, I’d be saying good-bye like in grand opera, where you say good-bye 12 different times,” Scully told The Times.
So if you wanted to see Los Angeles go far solely due to Scully, feel free to pick another team. We’re still holding out hope, though, that if they make it to the World Series that Fox would find a way to involve Scully, somehow.
