towbar electrics for a citroen xsara 2001 year advice?

all does anyone know if a citroen xsara 2001 model needs a 7 way bypass on the tow bar electrics i have called the dealer and they have told me that it is a multiplex wiring system and gave me a number for a tow bar fitting specialist and i called him and he said he never fits them on the xsara but obviously i want to be sure with having conflicting advice
any advice would be gratefully received
