SOTI Inc. has announced the general availability of SOTI MobiControl 12.1. This new version represents the first same-day enterprise mobility management solution of devices using Android for Work. Also included in this release is support for Samsung KNOX, as well as a streamlined deployment of iOS devices.SOTI MobiControl 12.1 provides enhanced manageability and security functionality across the industry's broadest range of mobile devices, allowing enterprises to rapidly and smoothly leverage the potential for workplace mobility.
The new platform delivers the workspace control, intelligent policy management and broad OS version and device support necessary for enterprises to confidently implement a comprehensive mobility strategy around Android for Work.
Enterprises can easily manage app deployment policies to ensure all required apps are installed. Sideloading can be readily prevented and data transfer outside the secure workspace can be controlled. This allows employees the freedom of device choice while providing benefits such as increased mobile adoption, productivity gains, and reduced helpdesk woes.
The combination of Samsung KNOX and SOTI MobiControl facilitates BYOD in highly-regulated industries for security conscious customers looking to deploy Samsung KNOX within an on-premise environment for added security. Samsung devices enrolled in a BYOD program can be configured so that IT only has access and control of the secure workspace, ensuring privacy of user data. Devices such as the new Samsung Galaxy S6 can be enrolled with a split billing policy and configured so that cellular data usage for enterprise content is billed separately from personal data usage.
MobiControl 12.1 also introduces support for Apple's Device Enrolment Program (DEP), providing IT administrators with the ability to streamline deployment of iOS devices for institutions purchasing and deploying iOS at scale. Enterprises deploying institutionally or corporately owned iOS devices can now take advantage of simplified pre-configuration, saving time and significant cost. Regardless of deployment model, enterprises leveraging iOS devices can now provision the device without intervention from the administrator.
Devices that are under Apple's Device Enrolment Program are not required to be passed by the IT administrator's desk, as device enrollment and configuration occurs as a part of the device activation.
